Study History and Geography, and enough Humanities to mitigate your technological gluttonry! Develop more scientists. instead of importing them from "lesser" nations ! Reduce the 10% of the military budget; that would provide better education and healthcare to all Americains! Be tolerant, Generous and fair to the World's oppressed, particularly the Palestinians; this may provide us all with greater, and cheaper security than weapons amd military might do! Help reduce the Greenhouse effect by adhering to the Tokyo Treaty, the Plains states may get more rain! Try to drive a 2CV, or even some 4CVs, instead of guzzeling SUVs, and you may then dispense of the need for Arab, and Caspian Oil, and therefore the need to wage wars to keep them running! ...Develop alternative energies and engines to go with them! And...if you are not aware of continued French and European Artistic and Intellectual achievements of late, learn languages and try to be more open and receptive, and you will be amazed at what exists! You can do that and then, perhaps, carry the feeling of superiority that you so arrogantly suffer from. As for PhD candidates not electing French as one of their required languages? Too bad for them! >From: David Still >Sir: tose who advocate war but have not served (those in positions of power) are called "chickenhawks." I am neither in power and am not a chickenhawk. I assume you mean the other country in the ME to be Israel. You are right on that score. For me the ME is mostly a source of annoynce, worthwhile to anyone not living there only for its oil reserves. Unfortunately a nymber of industrialized nations play what may be be dexcribed as footsie with a number of those states inorder to keep a supply of flowing for their needs. This I do believe will not go on in the near fure....I suggest that oil as a weapon or threat will soon be a thing of the past. Russian is moving closer toAmerica in supply oil. At this point, there is more oil production in oil than in th e Kingdomp; but whereas Russian exports 50% of what it produces, the Kingdom needs much less and thus exports much more. That will change, what with help from American companies in production and with Caspian Sea development and with Alaskanreserves which will under congressional pressure begin pumping from areas now closed for environment concerns.
